There are over 100,000 species of arachnid species, including ticks, mites, scorpions, tarantulas and spiders.
All arachnids live on land but there are exceptions, for example the Diving Bell Spider (Argyroneta aquatica) of northern and central Europe and northern Asia.
Arachnids have eight legs which distinguishes them from insects which have only six legs.
