LONG TAILED CHINCHILLA
SPECIES: Chinchilla lanigera
STATUS: Endangered
HABITAT: Rocks and crevices in the Andes Mountain region of Chile.
GENERAL: There are two species of Chinchilla—Short Tailed Chinchilla and the Long Tailed Chinchilla.
Both species are endangered of becoming extinct in the wild due to over hunting because of their dense fur which is used for fur coats, but they are now a protected species but are still farmed for their fur.
