HABITAT: Mature deciduous forest

DIET: Wood boring beetles, other insects, nuts, seeds and some fruit.

GENERAL: The Western Pileated Woodpecker is the second largest woodpecker in North America, the largest being the Ivory Billed Woodpecker which is critically endangered or extinct.
