STATUS: Least Concern

 

HABITAT: Open sunny fields, under the eaves of houses and outbuildings.

 

DIET: Insects

 

GENERAL: If disturbed they may bite and if bitten there will be a redness and swelling around the bite. If a person has a compromised immune system, they should exercise extreme caution.

 

The web of the Black & Yellow Garden Spider is incredibly unique in appearance. It is a circular pattern with zigzagging in the center.

After breeding with a male spider, the female will lay her eggs on a web sheet, and after doing this she will form the sheet into a sac with the eggs inside. She may do this up to four times with each sac holding up to 1,000 eggs each.
