SPECIES: Varanus exanthematicus

 

STATUS: Least Concern

 

HABITAT: The Bosc’s Monitor lives in scrublands, grasslands and the open savannah.

 

DIET: Bosc’s Monitors eat insects, rodents, birds, other lizards and amphibians.

 

GENERAL: During the heat of the day they will hide out in burrows dug into termite

 

mounds, or under shrubs and bushes. Bosc’s Monitor spends the early morning and late

 

evening hours hunting for their prey.

 

They can attain lengths between 3 ½ -5 feet.
