SPECIES: Gerrhosaurus major
STATUS: Least Concern
HABITAT: Rocky desert and savannah grasslands.
DIET: Insects, small rodents, lizards and plant material.
GENERAL: When threatened the lizard runs for a rocky outcropping, and with its armor like skin wedges in between the rocks, making it harder for a predator to catch them. The Western Plated Lizard can get around two feet in length.
