             BLUE DEATH FEIGNING BEETLE

 

SPECIES: Asbolus verrucosus

 

STATUS: Least Concern

 

HABITAT: Dry desert areas of the North American Southwest.

 

DIET: Fresh or decaying vegetation.

 

GENERAL: The Blue Death Feigning Beetle will roll over onto its back if threatened and will pretend it is dead hoping the would-be predator will go away.

 

This beetle is turquoise in color except when the air is humid then they turn black.
