HABITAT: Fennec Foxes dwell in North Africa in the sandy Sahara Desert.
DIET: The Fennec Fox is an omnivore, which means that it eats plants and animals. Its diet includes desert plants, rodents, insects, bird, eggs, and rabbits.
GENERAL: Fennec Foxes are nocturnal, which means that they are awake at night and sleep during the day. Their large ears are used to cool their body in the hot desert. The foxes mate for life, with each pair or family controlling their own territory. When hunting they use their large radar ears to pinpoint the location of prey underground or hidden above ground. They are social and will often be seen hunting together. The Fennec Fox’s main predators are the Eagle Owl, Jackals, and Striped Hyenas.
Being the smallest of the Canine family the Fennec Fox weighs 3.5 pounds and has a length of 16 inches and is only 8 inches tall standing up.
