STATUS: Least Concern

 

HABITAT: Forest areas near swamps, ponds etc.

 

DIET: Insects and arthropods

 

GENERAL: These secretive salamanders spend their time under logs, rocks and other areas where the soil is damp. When breeding time occurs they will migrate toward a swamp, pond or other still moving body of water to mate and lay eggs.

 

The Yellow Spotted Salamander can reach 6 to 9 inches in length.
