SPECIES: Tyrannus forficatus

STATUS: Least Concern

HABITAT: Grasslands and shrub lands with scattered trees.

DIET: Insects and berries.

GENERAL: The Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher winters in southern Mexico and Central America and migrates to North America during the breeding season. (The map shows the entire range including the migratory route).

 

The Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher is the Oklahoma state bird and is on the reverse side of the Oklahoma Commemorative Quarter.
